Fusing together pattern designs, abstract intricate drawings and good use of colors, the work of Guillaume Dénervaud,
a swiss artist and illustrator, involves an intense exploration of
drawing, inspired by early modernism and the aesthetics of abstraction
in contemporary culture. Balancing complexity and simplicity, his last installation – created during a residency of seven days at Atelier des Rats in Vevey
(Switzerland) - employs a variety of display mechanism to show off a
collection of modestly scaled but likably eccentric juxtapositions. The
exhibition emphasized drawings, which Guillaume executes
with a casual, intuitive scrawl. The painted wallpaper with its mix of
geometrical and organic shapes works as a vibrant technicolor background
allowing a physical experience.
